How it all started

One might ask, “Where did you ever get the idea to start making comfrey salve?”

Back in the 1980’s when I was in my twenties, our family had the opportunity to join a rural mission farm project for a couple years in Zimbabwe, Africa. While there, I was introduced to a plant, and told that if I fed this plant to chickens they would really thrive and be immune to almost all diseases. This plant was called comfrey.

I did some research on the plant and was very impressed at the high protein levels and other properties that were in the make-up of the plant. There are only three plants on planet earth known to scientists at this time that produce and store vitamin B12, and one of the three is comfrey. Because of its deep root system it is very high in mineral content.

After moving back to the USA and entering my fifties, I began to raise chickens again. I started to grow a patch of comfrey to fortify the non-GMO corn I was feeding them. I began to experiment with it and came up with a salve mixture that I thought had some potential. People started using it and coming back for more, as it seemed to help them in various ways. To keep up with the demand, I planted more comfrey. I started keeping a notebook of all the testimonials of what the salve was doing for the various ones that were coming back for more. Eventually we had a local artist paint a logo for the product, which has come to be known as Papa Town’s Comfrey Salve.

God in His love and wisdom for His created ones, put on the earth that which was needed to live and thrive. He said that the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
